Projects

Projects that we have completed

We have developed and worked on a variety of projects from the federal park system to privately owned acreages creating accessible and usable spaces.

Magnetawan River

This project required a road built through the swamp to access the Magnetawan River in Burk’s Falls. The road was approximately 500ft and built with dead trees out of the swamp and of course peat dug from swamp as we went.  It was quite a feat to get this done, but it looks great still.

The two images below are of a bridge we built.  The wood was milled on-site from windfall hemlock.

Camping/Glamping Sites Created

This client wanted a site cleared of unnecessary brush and debris to create a site for his tent site in the middle of his property.  This is a small example of what can be achieved.

Gravenhurst Trail

The trail was developed to allow both vehicles and ATV’s access to their fishing camp. Previously there was no vehicle access.  This is the image of the trail ten years later.

Testimonials

Here’s what our clients had to say about our services:

I had no idea how to redevelop my land when I bought it, but Greg and his team were so knowledgeable and I knew that they would care about the trees and creatures who lived there.  And they did!

Ten years later and the trail is gorgeous Greg. Your team was awesome and extremely polite.

Happy in Gravenhurst

We hired Thatcher Brothers in 2022 for site preparation to build on our heavily overgrown treed lot and also for shoreline restoration. We are very happy with the way the lot was cleared. The building envelope was cleaned completely but the balance of the immediate building area was just cut back and cleared enough to afford access to the lake and thin some of the tree canopy. They conserved as many of the established hardwood trees they could and made the lot lovely and walkable. For a fee they built us a handy wood rack, and cut and stacked the wood so it could be left to season.

Once the clearing for building was complete we hired them for shoreline restoration. They were able to remove the floating debris and salvage much of the fallen trees and branches. They also removed some large submerged stumps and brought them to the top of the hill where now I have gorgeous driftwood art. They piled burnable wood to dry for future use and Greg and crew have begun a rough crib with the salvaged logs and once the water levels rise in the spring Greg has promised to build the crib up to the appropriate level and back fill.

Aside from the one season-related, water-level delay for the crib height, the work for both jobs was executed in the time that Greg accurately estimated it would take. Overall we are very satisfied with the friendly professionalism and work that Greg Thatcher and crew have completed thus far and plan on retaining them for future work on our building site in 2023!
